Fathers Day

With Father’s day just around the corner, I guess almost everyone are busy preparing something special for that one special man of their lives. It’s a time that we honor our Pops, Dads, Papa, baba, or papi! Here’s a quick post joining everyone in celebrating this day with our wonderful fathers.

As I have witnessed a lot of weddings, there are those moments that make people let their guard down and enthrall the family and friends around. One of these moments is when we see the connection and relationship of dads with their daughters as they do the father and daughter dance. Capturing each genuine emotion as it unfolds is one of the reason why I love what I do.  It is a very special moment for all present during the celebrations but most of all to the dad. A chance for daughters to honor their fathers and a chance for fathers to remind their loved children that they will remain special even in a time of transition.

As a tribute to dads, I would love to share this awesome article entitled 50 Rules for Dads of Daughters by Michael Mitchell. Here is a list of things dad can do to build a wonderful relationship with their daughters ( and definitely with their sons too!). Here are some of my favorites:

5. Pray for her. Regularly. Passionately. Continually.

1. Love her mom. Treat her mother with respect, honor, and a big heaping spoonful of public displays of affection. When she grows up, the odds are good she’ll fall in love with and marry someone who treats her much like you treated her mother. Good or bad, that’s just the way it is. I’d prefer good.

41. Take it easy on the presents for her birthday and Christmas. Instead, give her the gift of experiences you can share together.

3. Save the day. She’ll grow up looking for a hero. It might as well be you. She’ll need you to come through for her over and over again throughout her life. Rise to the occasion. Red cape and blue tights optional.

4. Savor every moment you have together. Today she’s crawling around the house in diapers, tomorrow you’re handing her the keys to the car, and before you know it, you’re walking her down the aisle. Some day soon, hanging out with her old man won’t be the bees knees anymore. Life happens pretty fast. You better cherish it while you can.

So to the fathers of my brides, my grooms who are now dads, my Papa and to ALL dads out there.. Happy Father’s Day to Us!
